I almost feel silly coming in here this week and talking about the Segunda weekend when everyone seems so keyed on what happened yesterday at the Camp Nou. I will even freely admit that I, Senor Segunda, get more amped up for a Barcelona – Real Madrid clasico than, say, Huesca – Elche. It is that time of the year again when Barcelona go head to head with Real Madrid in El Gran Clasico, the biggest match in the world. This match is much more than football in Spain. It is very symbolic and there has been a lot of bad blood between both teams in the past, which has been replaced with a sense of grudging respect for each other in recent times. In case this is your first El Clasico experience, [...]

The January transfer window rarely delivers what is expected. In England for example, Sky Sports news create a hype that deals will fly through like birds migrating south for the winter. Invariably a few loan deals may be struck, but not many ground breaking moves occur, mainly as clubs don’t want to lose players they may need. Sometimes however it can be difficult to convince a bench warming player that staying for another 6 months is a good idea, something [...]
