Benzema Targets Success With Madrid
This season’s Champion’s League campaign is a very important one for Real Madrid as the final will be played at their stadium, the Bernabeu.
Currently, the football betting makes Real 5/1 shots to lift the trophy on their home turf on May 22nd, something that would be a dream come true for all involved.
In order to remain on track for the final Los Blancos must defeat French giants Olympique Lyon in the first knockout round of the competition. It is a tie which will be extra special for Madrid striker Karim Benzema as it will be the first time he has faced his former club since moving to Spain last summer.
Benzema was one of the marquee signings brought in by the club president Florentino Perez as part of his new project at Real. Perez previously oversaw the building of the side that became known as the Galacticos and included the likes of Zidane, Figo and Beckham.
Perez subsequently lost his role as president but won it back last summer and embarked on a new quest to bring the world’s best players to the Bernabeu. He brought in Ballon D’or winners Kaka and Ronaldo, while Benzama was seen as the man to would finish the chances the midfield pair would create.
Benzema initially struggled to adapt life as a Madridista with a series of average performances and a dearth of goals. However, the French international now seems to be back on track after regaining his place in the side and performing to the standard expected of him.
Benzama told the club website: “It was hard at first, but the process has made me grow as a player and person. I have never once regretted my decision. You have ups and downs in football, and this is part of the process.”
And Benzema admits he will have mixed feelings when he returns to the club he grew up at but insists he will be doing all he can to ensure Madrid reach their dream final.
He said: “It’s going to be a great match. I grew up and spent my whole career in Lyon. It will be a bittersweet moment. I hope I receive a warm welcome because of all the years I spent there.
“It is very special this year because the final is being played at the Bernabeu and we want to win it, but that doesn’t make La Liga any less significant.”
The online betting suggests Real Madrid should see off their French rivals and march on towards their dream final.
Overall, Benzema seems like an ambitious player who wants to achieve a great deal with Real Madrid this season. If he maintains his current form the side have an excellent chance of doing this.
